Clarence Anthony Mitchell entered the world in the parish of St Ann and rose up through the ranks via his determined personality Admired by his peers the ragamuffin youth was often AWOL and found to be banging out some new riddim instead of studying. After a successful graduation Anthony John directed his energy towards the creation of music, finding an outlet within the local sound systems and spent his teens in the midst of the creative street sounds. His move to Kingston in 1988 enabled him to buck up with aspiring yet unknown Buju Ban ton in White Hall this union led to performances with the great vintage sound systems Playmate, Ram bo and Culture Love. As Buju's supporting artist opportunities flowed and Anthony John found himself in studios or on tour deejaying and chanting with the 'big boys' of the time, an activity which prompted the release of his first single, a cover of Gregory Abbotf s "Shake You Down/1 in 1990 on the I n I label. Inspired by The Pinchers he produced "In the Spotlight" the theme tune to Cheers, "If You're Not Herd' originally a hit for Dionne Warwick. The first original tune to emerge was "Treat Me Good Tonight" which appeared on an All Star compilation and received well deserved praise.
Blessed inspiration arrived in 1993 with Garfield Sampalue' Phillips (Diamond Rush Promotions), Sampalue was so intrigued with Anthony John's vocal ability he raised him into the ranks of Jamaica's musical elite with "All I Can Say", "Hookedon a Feeing" (Weather Balloon Rhythm) followed with massive acclaim , followed by the debut CD "Do Good For Bold Gold " featuring "Burning Fire of Love" chosen for the movie "Hunter Fire Man" In unison with Donavon Germaine (Penthouse Records). Gargamel Music and the elite Exterminator (recorded a 16 track album). Anthony John focussed his positive energies developing his artistic skills. A much awaited CD is currently under construction—watch this space. Yearning to spread the message to the earth's 4 corners Anthony John states: - "People fi follow positive direction of the life road, lam Rasta, I stand Rasta no segregation, no separation, we all are one no matter your colour, class, Race or creed.
